Why We Chose These Ingredients

Every ingredient is in a product because it does a job there. Just as important is where it isn’t.

Beef Tallow

In the soap. Nowhere else.

Tallow is what soap was made from for a few hundred years before detergent got cheaper. It builds a hard, long-lasting bar with a thick creamy lather instead of the thin foam you get from a detergent bar, and it leaves skin feeling conditioned rather than stripped.

It’s not in the beard oil or the body conditioner. Those need to absorb in seconds — tallow would sit on top. Different job, different fat.

Shea Butter

Soap, beard balm, body conditioner.

Rich and slow-melting. In the soap it softens the bar’s feel so tallow’s hardness doesn’t turn harsh. In the balm and the conditioner it’s the body — what makes them feel substantial instead of watery.

Mango Butter

Beard balm, body conditioner.

Lighter than shea and less greasy. It’s there so a balm you put in your beard before work doesn’t leave your hands slick for the next twenty minutes.

Rosehip Seed Oil

Body conditioner only.

Expensive, and worth it. It’s rich in the essential fatty acids that help skin hold moisture, and it absorbs fast instead of sitting on the surface like a lotion.

It’s not in the soap. Rosehip in a bar would wash straight down the drain — an expensive ingredient doing nothing. Most men’s brands skip it entirely because of what it costs.

Jojoba Oil & Argan Oil

Beard oil.

Jojoba is closer to what your skin already produces than almost anything else, so it sinks in fast without the greasy film. Argan is the one that makes coarse beard hair behave. Together they’re why the beard oil disappears into your beard instead of sitting on it.

Sweet Almond Oil

Beard oil, body conditioner.

Light, absorbs clean, and plays well with everything else. It’s the oil that keeps a rich formula from feeling heavy. Almond is a tree nut — worth knowing if you have a nut allergy.

Castor Oil

Soap.

Small amount, big job. Castor is what turns thin bubbles into the dense, stable lather you can actually shave around. Leave it out and the bar cleans fine but feels cheap.

Beeswax

Beard balm, body conditioner.

Beeswax is the hold. It’s why a balm stays where you put it and why the conditioner sets into a cream instead of a puddle.

Vitamin E

Beard oil, beard balm, body conditioner.

It keeps the oils from going rancid on your shelf. Small thing, but it’s the difference between a product that’s good in month six and one that isn’t.

What’s Not In It

No parabens. No sulfates. No glitter. No detergent base.

Full ingredient lists are on every product page and printed on every label. If something’s in there, you can read it.
